Give me Ray Charles America!
Where “God shed His grace on thee!
And crown thy good, with brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea!”
Waving wheat, farmlands sweet,
Cornfields and sparkling streams.
Small town folks telling jokes,
Freedom to live our dreams.
Were you were “Born in the USA”,
As “The Boss” so loudly proclaims?
Or did you came from far away,
With freedom as your aim?
Freedom to speak up for what you believe,
To let your opinions be known.
Personal expression is well received,
When you call America home.
A melting pot of diversity,
With people of every creed;
Where effort determines your destiny,
All have a fair chance to succeed.
Baseball, the flag and apple pie;
Some symbols of our pride.
Watching fireworks light the sky,
On a blanket on the fourth of July.
How dare they come to our shore,
And destroy what we value so dear!
It was them with that act that cried “War!”
But now it is us that they fear.
Singin “one, two, three, four–
What the heck are we fightin for?
Five, four, three, two–
Fightin for the red, white and blue!”
Brave soldiers have gone to get back our pride,
And make sure that America is safe.
To fight with others that are on our side,
Whose sensibilities the terrorists chafed.
Some say America has lost her way,
But even a blind man can see her heart.
Open your eyes and love her today.
All of us must do our part.
Give me Ray Charles America!
Where “God shed His grace on thee!
And crown thy good, with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!”
