Oh, wondrous gift does He bestow,
Dear Heavenly Father of mine,
More precious than a summer glow,
A treasure for all time.
Not jewels, coins, or gold so rare,
Not silk of the highest grade
Will ever be able to compare
To the sacrifice He made.
To be blessed with everlasting life,
Who could ask for more?
With father, mother, child, and wife,
The loved ones that we adore.
Is it much He asks of me,
To serve my fellow man?
To feed the hungry with word and deed
And give whatever I can?
To open my heart to His sheep that are lost
And wipe away their tears;
To be an instrument of hope
To those with heartfelt fears?
To love each man as I love myself,
What a message I would impart;
Reflecting His light in my countenance
Touching a burdened heart.
Such a small thing to ask of me,
To love and serve my brother
And the ones I touch will surely see,
Then they will touch another.
No matter how difficult is my journey,
I feel His love in my heart.
It inspires me to share His message
And keeps me doing my part.
Not jewels, coins, or gold so rare,
Not trees nor temples tall,
Will ever be able to compare
To the gift He gave us all.
