I tiptoe softly by your room at night, looking in to watch you sleep,
Hearing the little noises you make as you slumber deep.
That angelic little face with its features so perfect and rare,
Reminds me of where you have come from, and who awaits us there.
Oh, If I could for an instant see what you have seen,
If I could glimpse into your memory; to see where you have been.
To see our Heavenly Father, to feel his perfect love.
But then as I remember the blessing of your birth,
I know you are the closest thing to heaven on this earth.
Oh little miracle that you are, I marvel that you are mine,
That I have done anything worthy, to deserve this honor fine.
That I am allowed to be, your teacher and your guide;
To show you all you need to know, to return to our Father’s side.
My heart fills will love as I whisper a thankful prayer,
For the precious little spirit that sleeps so softly there.
