Poetry Weaver

heavy breathing
saturated her paradise
and made sport
of fading resolve

white knuckles slipped
alluring creeping mist
beguiled and bewitched

placated by empty promises
her guard was down

the puppeteer
maliciously maneuvering
the steering strings
spiraled her toward
her demise

now prisoner

caught
like the wrapped fly
who finally succumbs
to the web’s
pending peril

written about drug addiction—for Sarah 4-19-2010
