Slumber Dance

black and beige book on white bed sheet

Fingers tenderly entwined as we sleep-touching gently.
I awaken and gaze at your still very handsome face…smiling softly to myself.
Your whispered sigh as you drowsily turn over…
I spoon myself around you, snuggling in that familiar way.

Thinking back…back to that magical first time we lay this way; bare feet touching…and how incredible it felt.

The sleeping patterns we formed so long ago still remain…like some well-choreographed dance, we move together in the night. Spooning around each other in turn…first you, then me…then you again…until dawn.

I always told you this was my favorite time of day…and it still is. Its our time…and ours alone.

As our weary heads touch the pillow at night…
though burdened from the day’s cares…
in an instant the world is gone, and only we remain.
For this is OUR time…and the dance begins.
