Sad Caesar Salad

colosseum italy

Oh why is the salad called Caesar?
Maybe the Emperor’s wife named it so
Did the crunchy lettuce displease her
And on it this dishonor bestow?

They say that the beautiful Empress
Was captured by him in a raid
She had clawed and fought like a tigress,
Until her fiery stripes he did fade.

A rope held her tight like an animal
Flowing hair did hang down from the cart
The picture of her delicate form
Spoke love to the Emperor’s heart

He kept her locked up in her quarters
Until her demeanor did suit him
A potato sack for her clothing
With the tie of a rope at his whim.

It did not take long til he tamed her
Smart girls know when chips are down
A photo of perfect behavior,
She hid her malevolent frown.

On the outside she seemed like a dream girl,
Inside she was angry and dark
Her hatred boiling inside her
To her husband the truth was quite stark.

He noticed the venom inside her
Trickle out when she thought him unaware
Though he struggled to get her to love him
Only bitter hatred in her heart he found there.
